Dr. Jie QIN Accepts a Faculty Position in the U.S.

Dr. Jie Qin, a PhD graduate of Department of Media & Communication in 2014, has received a job offer as Professor of Communication in School of Liberal Arts at Savannah College of Arts and Design, the United States, in the coming September.
 
As the first awardee of the prestigious Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme in the field of communication, Jie came to our PhD program with a BA from Renmin University of China and an MA from Tsinghua University. In the PhD program, she received rigorous training on computational social science research at the Web Mining Lab supervised by Prof Jonathan Zhu.  After graduation from CityU, she has been a full-time faculty member at SCAD Hong Kong, where she has been awarded for teaching excellence three years in a row. During her study at CityU, she has published research articles in SSCI journals like Internet Research, The International Journal of Press/Politics (IJPP), and Society, and she published three translated books on media studies.
 
Jie is the fifth PhD graduate holding a faculty position at universities in the U.S. Four other PhD graduates of the department are currently serving faculty members at Michigan State University, Pittsburg University, Houston University and California State University.
