Communication Wins Half of HKPFS at CityU

Three applicants for PhD program in Communication, including Roberto SPEIZIO from Italy, Jiechu CHEN and Na LIU from mainland China, have won the competition for the 2011 Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS). HKPDS is a highly competitive and prestigious award funded directly by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong SAR Government. Out of 90 applicants nominated by City University to HKPDS in 2011, six are successful, of which Communication shares half. In 2010, City University also received six HKPDS awards, including one recipient, Jie QIN from mainland, studying in Communication. “Miss QIN was the only recipient of HKPDS in communication among eight universities last year,” said Prof Jonathan Zhu, Departmental Research Degree Coordinator. “We don’t know at this point the number of awards in communication other universities receive this year, but we may be ahead of the competition again.”
