The Department of Media and Communication hosted a live video streaming workshop for the BA students on June 18, 2020. The workshop was taught by Dr. Joe He who pioneered in the transition from live broadcasting to live streaming and has previously partnered with leading local broadcasters in producing live streaming sessions during important news events. Attending the workshop are students from the Department’s two undergraduate programmes, Professor Liu Yu-li, Head of the Department as well as faculty members teaching related courses. Dr. He introduced the most fundamental concepts and skills in producing professional standard video live via the Internet and demonstrated how to do a live-streaming session via YouTube. The workshop involved lively interaction amongst the speaker and the audiences.
Given the increasing popularity and demand of live-streaming, particularly in light of a proliferation of online activities as a result of COVID 19, this workshop provided an excellent opportunity for students to learn to handle the technology through accessing the Department's state-of-the-art digital newsroom and facilities. It is also part of the Department’s ongoing efforts to make up for the absence of face-to-face teaching and learning of skill-oriented courses over the last semester.
