The call for this year's Google Policy Fellowship's Asia Chapter attracted over fifty applicants from all over the world. We are very grateful for their keen interest in the program. After carefully evaluating all the applications and interviewing four finalists, the selection panel picked Sonya Song of Michigan State University to be the Google Policy Fellow Asia chapter 2012. Sonya is currently studying for her doctoral degree in media and information studies at the Quello Center for Telecommunication Management and Law, Michigan State University (MSU). She obtained her BEng and MEng in computer science at Tsinghua University. She also has an MPhil in Journalism from the University of Hong Kong. Sonya’s research focuses on Internet censorship. She will begin the 10-week Google Policy Fellowship in June in the Department of Media and Communication at the City University.
