CityU Department of Media and Communication Assistant Professor Yuan Wang and doctoral student Lu Guan published an article titled “Mapping the Structures of International Communication Organizations’ Networks and Cross-Sector Relationships on Social Media and Exploring Their Antecedents” in the Public Relations Review, a top journal in the field of public relations, on July 16, 2020.
 
Their study conducted a network analysis to examine the global structures of the networks and cross-sector relationships on social media of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) and identified the antecedents of the relationships. This study found that INGOs and IGOs tend to build following relationships on Twitter with the same type of organizations. Cultural context and educational level influence their cross-sector relationships.
