Yixin Zhou, a 3rd-year PhD student of the Department, recently obtained a Hong Kong Postdoctoral Fellowship from Research Grants Council (RGC). The Fellowship is a new funding scheme to support young research talents for three years to build up research and development careers in Hong Kong. Each year, 50 awardees are selected, through a keen competition, from PhD graduates among eight public universities in Hong Kong.
After successfully completing her PhD dissertation in July, Dr. Zhou has already begun to work as a Hong Kong Postdoctoral Fellow in Centre for Communication Research, Department of Media and Communication, City University of Hong Kong. Prof Jonathan Zhu, who was Yixin’s PhD supervisor in the last three years and is supervising her Postdoctoral work in the next three years, commented that “When RGC government launched Hong Kong PhD Fellowship about 10 years ago, we were able to win the first batch of PhD Fellowship. Today, we are equally lucky and excited to win the first batch of Postdoctoral Fellowship.”
