Facebook recently announced the research award winners for its request for proposals on misinformation and polarization research (https://research.fb.com/blog/2020/08/announcing-the-winners-of-facebooks-request-for-proposals-on-misinformation-and-polarization/). Dr. Shen Fei (PI) and Dr. Tetsuro Kobayashi (Co-I)’s proposal is one of the 25 selected projects out of over 1,000 proposals from 600 institutions and 77 countries around the world. Proposals were evaluated by members of Facebook’s research and policy teams and the selection process was highly competitive.
The proposed project, entitled “Can third party fact-checkers on Facebook reduce affective polarization?” intends to explore the influence of fact-checking exposure on attitude (de)polarization in Hong Kong.
